A proper day trip from Mumbai or Pune. Reach Bhushi Dam in the morning before the crowd, sit on the steps with hot bhajiya, climb up to Tiger Point for the valley and the clouds, and stop at the chikki bazaar on the way back so nobody goes home empty handed. In monsoon this plan is at its absolute best, and also the one to be most careful on.
